To pursue removal of a suspected fake Google review, save the exact review, document the concern and match it to the relevant policy. ReviewRemoval can prepare and manage that work for Canadian businesses. Send the Google review to our team with the facts you already have.

What makes a Google review look fake?

Google’s policy addresses fabricated experiences and manipulated engagement. A one-star rating, an unfamiliar display name or a customer who cannot be found in one database is not enough to establish that a review is fabricated. People can use a different name, buy as part of a group or describe an interaction that did not produce a sale. Google Maps content policy.

Start by separating what the post says from what you can independently check. “We do not recognize this name” is an observation. “This person is a competitor” needs evidence of that relationship. Your report should make the distinction visible.

Build a case from facts you can check

Preparation examples, not findings about an actual reviewer
ConcernUseful facts to organizeWhat the fact does not prove alone
The review describes another businessThe exact passage and the public details of your actual locationThat every inaccurate statement is deliberate fraud
Several posts share distinctive wordingReview URLs, original text and dates in a simple chronologyThat a shared phrase proves one author or a coordinated attack
There is a known business relationshipA dated explanation of the relationship and relevant shareable documentationThat a guessed identity establishes a conflict
You cannot match the experience to your recordsWhat you searched, the date range and the limits of the recordsThat the person never interacted with the business

The Google evidence checker provides a worksheet by concern and reporting stage. Keep one row per review, even when several posts seem connected. Preserve originals securely and share only information relevant to the case.

For the wider evidence, our 2024–2025 Google review removal statistics audit separates fake-review reason rates, removal counts and reporting corrections. Global figures do not establish whether a particular review is fake.

Handling several suspicious Google reviews

For a sudden cluster, create a chronology with the listing, each review URL, date observed, wording and any related message. Record separate reports and outcomes rather than treating a whole cluster as one case. State which facts suggest a link between posts and which remain uncertain.

If you manage several Canadian locations, keep the profile URL and city beside every review. This makes a Toronto branch, a Calgary location and a Vancouver listing distinguishable without assuming the same reporting outcome for all of them. A screenshot should preserve the connection to the relevant review, not simply show an isolated star rating.

Report the specific issue and track the decision

Use the ordinary reporting route for a documented policy concern. After submitting, keep the reference and check the status before deciding on the next step. Our Google report and appeal guide explains how to distinguish a pending assessment from a reviewed decision. Official reporting guidance.

Prepare a short factual summary: the review URL, the policy concern, the exact passage or behaviour, and the evidence that supports it. An unsupported description of the reviewer’s motives adds less than a clear explanation of the facts.

What if someone offers to delete reviews for money?

Preserve the communication and relevant review URLs. Google provides a dedicated route for direct demands for payment or favours tied to negative-review removal. The sender, timestamps and sequence of events matter. Do not pay the person making the demand; Google’s extortion guidance explains what to submit.

A burst of low ratings without a demand does not by itself establish extortion. Keep that distinction when documenting the case.

Let us handle the Google review case

ReviewRemoval serves Canadian businesses remotely. Send the link, the location and the context; we assess the request and explain the work before payment. The published rate is CAD $50 upfront per review, plus $125 for each review removed. See the cost guide and partial-success examples.

Our team organizes the assessment, report and available follow-through. You do not need to put customer records or account passwords into the initial enquiry. If the review is missing already, use the missing Google reviews guide to check the situation before requesting removal work.

Will removing a one-star review change the rating?

That depends on the number of ratings and the underlying average. A displayed rating is rounded, so a single removal does not always change the visible number. Our 1,625-scenario rating study explains the model and uncertainty. It models arithmetic, not removal eligibility.
