A Google review that is not showing may be delayed, on another listing or affected by moderation or profile changes. Its absence alone does not establish that a removal request succeeded. Start with the correct profile and record what you can actually observe.
Check the exact Google Business Profile
Open the public listing for the right branch and compare it with the link saved in your records. For a Canadian business with several locations, record the city and street location with each review. Search results can send someone to another branch or a similarly named business.
Look for the exact review rather than comparing only the total count or rounded star average. A change in either aggregate number does not identify which individual post changed.
Why might a Google review be missing?
Google’s current missing-review guidance describes moderation checks, delays following profile merges, some app issues and restrictions on contributions. It also discusses missing reviews after a profile has been reinstated. Check the explanation that matches the profile’s actual history.
| What you observe | What to verify | What to save |
|---|---|---|
| A new review has not appeared | The correct branch, original submission and any visible account message | Review text, submitted date and intended profile URL |
| Reviews changed after a merge | Whether the profiles were merged and when | Old and new listing URLs and merge correspondence |
| A previously visible review is missing | The exact post and any report or decision connected to it | Original review URL, date last seen and current observation |
| Reviews changed after reinstatement | The reinstatement history and applicable support route | Reinstatement date, correspondence and relevant review records |
If a customer says their review is not showing
Ask for the intended profile URL and a description of what their account shows, if they are willing to provide it. Do not ask for account credentials. Keep a clear distinction between “the customer says it was submitted” and “we observed the review publicly.”
A screenshot can help identify the content, but a screenshot of an account view does not necessarily establish public visibility. Avoid asking the person to repeatedly repost identical content or offering a benefit to rewrite the review. If you respond to the customer, explain the observed issue without claiming that you know Google’s internal reason.
If you reported the missing review yourself
Check the original case and record any explicit decision. Our report-status guide explains the difference between pending, reviewed and escalated cases. A screenshot of an empty search result should not replace the report reference and decision.
For several reported reviews, attach the outcome to the exact URL. If one is removed and two remain, the request has mixed results. Our partial-success pricing examples make that distinction concrete.
Choose the next step from the facts
- A genuine review appears delayed: preserve the submission information and check the current help guidance.
- A profile was merged or reinstated: gather the relevant account correspondence before contacting support.
- A harmful review is still public: identify the specific policy concern and prepare a focused report.
- A review is absent but there is no case decision: record it as an observation, not a verified deletion.
For a policy concern, the Google evidence checker helps prepare a worksheet. For a post you suspect is fabricated, use the fake Google review guide.
A missing review is not a rating forecast
The displayed star average is rounded and can reflect several changes at once. Our rating-impact study models one defined removal and its possible displayed result. It does not infer the reason that a live review disappeared.
Our Google review removal service is for assessing and managing specific content concerns. If you need help finding a delayed genuine review, start with the missing-review support route rather than paying for removal of a post you want to keep.
